The Rodopi Mountains in the south of Bulgaria are loved by hikers and naturalists because of its thick pine forests and crystal clear lakes, ideal for fishing, swimming and hiking. Mysterious caves, picturesque villages with a wealth of folklore and traditions and people as warm as the long summer days, who welcome you wherever you go. Escape the beaten track and head for the virgin beauty of the mountains. Hike for 1km or maybe 20 km, marvelling at the rich birdlife and diverse flora.

Day-to-day-program
Day 1
 Your English speaking guide meets you at Sofia Airport. After a transfer of one and a half hour you arrive at your hotel in Plovdiv. A free welcome drink and tasty dinner await you. Overnight in Plovdiv.

Day 2
 This morning we make a sightseeing city tour of Plovdiv. We visit the Roman Amphitheatre from the 2nd c. A.D., the Philipopolus Art Gallery, the St. Konstantin and Elena church and several house-museums. You have the rest of the day free to feel the charm of the ancient Plovdiv. Dinner and overnight in Plovdiv.

Day 3
 After breakfast we leave, via Bachkovo Monastery from the 11th c. and the ski resort Pamporovo, to Smolyan. Beautifully situated along a swift running river, Smolyan is a good starting point for hiking to the Smolyan Lakes and the nearby picturesque villages. Dinner and overnight in Smolyan.

Day 4
 This morning we take a stroll in and around the charming village Shiroka Laka. We continue our trip to Trigrad, marvelling at the eternal beauty of the Trigrad gorge. We visit the famous cave "The Devil's Throat". Dinner and overnight in Trigrad.

Day 5
 We follow our route to the marvellous surroundings of the Dospat Dam and the village of Sarnitsa. You can start exploring the virgin nature by a choice of hikes, or just sunbathe and swim. Dinner and overnight in Dospat.

Day 6
Via a scenic winding road we reach Velingrad. It is a famous spa centre with over 70 curative mineral water springs. You have the rest of the day free. Dinner and overnight in Velingrad.

Day 7
 We leave for Sofia. After a guided city tour you can explore the capital further on your own. A farewell dinner at a Bulgarian folk style restaurant. Overnight in Sofia.

Day 8
You carry away something from Bulgaria which cannot fit in your suitcase and depart.
